ABOUT US / THE HOOK:
Our brand-new London arena has opened! We are adding to our world-class team to help us keep ABBA Voyage performing great shows. So, if you are an experienced Automation Technician who’s ready for a new adventure, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
This role would suit a show automation technician with experience in large-scale touring shows or resident productions, or someone with a strong engineering, robotics or control systems background.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
As the Automation Technician you will support the automation department, and wider technical teams, in ensuring all automated show elements are prepared and maintained in a safe and consistent manner, ensuring systems remain compliant with relevant statutory regulations and industry best practice. In addition, you will operate the automated show systems during performances, on rotation.
ABOUT YOU:
A minimum of two years’ experience in large scale technical entertainment or similar, and interest or experience in engineering, robotics, or control systems.
A proven track record of taking responsibility for controlling and maintaining automated machinery that can cause harm to others if maintained and operated incorrectly.
Working knowledge of current and relevant Health and Safety practices.
Able to prioritize, multi-task, and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail, maintaining a positive attitude in fast-paced environments.
Comfortable working under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Take a calm and practical approach to technical troubleshooting.
Confident working with hand and power tools.
Strong all-round technical background, including lighting, audio and video.
Proficient with IT software including Microsoft office, especially Excel and Word.
DESIRABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL – any of the following would be advantageous:
Strong working knowledge of show automation systems including, but not limited to, console operation and programming, axis testing, drive repair etc.
Experience in stage management roles.
Rigging experience, including familiarity with fall protection systems.
Welding certification.
Familiarity with AutoCAD.
Formal fall protection and rope access training.
First Aid at Work.
IPAF 3A, 3B and 1B certification.
