The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art has a worldwide reputation for training actors, stage managers and technical specialists for careers at the highest level in theatre, television, film and radio. RADA, as a founding affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, is a designated Higher Education Institution.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone self-motivated and practical, with a wealth of experience in the technical arts to join RADA as the Deputy Production Manager, with key responsibility for stagecraft and technical management. Line-managed by the Academy’s Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all technical and pedagogical requirements within the broad area of technical management and stagecraft, as well as co-ordinating and defining the ethos and day-to-day running of technical management within the Academy. They will also be responsible for taking both a production-based and a building-wide view of all related health and safety, technical, managerial and pedagogical concerns within this area.
This role requires a proactive, agile working style and someone who is able to work effectively autonomously and collaboratively. The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the theatre production process, including all aspects of health and safety, as well as experience of flying hemp and counterweight, rigging and automation. They will also have excellent communication and negotiation skills, a supportive and helpful attitude and be able to motivate a team.
